Runway to real-life: This Irish stylist shows us the right way to wear over the knee boots
Over the knee boots are having a bit of a moment.
We've seen them creep in for several winter seasons, but with thanks to style mavens like Gigi Hadid and Chrissy Teigen championing the look, we're seeing more versions than ever from high end to the high street.
the first time I really took notice of the trend was seeing Olivia Palermo in a pair of Stuart Weitzman over the knee suede boots with a personalised Burberry blanket throw back in 2014. And I thought; now that’s chic.
They look on point when worn correctly whether you have a Stuart Weitzman budget or not. However, these boots are not going anywhere, so it’s worth investing in a pair that will outlast the seasons.
You can have your choice of heel heights, but I like a midi heel that I can wear with longer length skirts and dresses. Alternatively, try with knitted or jumper dresses that are slightly shorter, leaving a suggestive gap between the top of the boots and the hem.
If you prefer a midi length, then style with a shorter jacket (such as leather jacket) or military style coat (also another great investment). This styling needs a boot that’s slim-fitted, perhaps a pull up or sock boot. Should you wish to style these with skinny jeans, go for a wider fit, with a zip, so you have room to slide in without any bunching.
