Millie Mackintosh gives rising Irish designer Giovanna Borza the nod
London’s girl about town Millie Mackintosh snapped up a piece by Dublin designer Giovanna Borza on her recent trip to the capital.
Millie, admired for her polished personal style and devout fitness regime, was in Ireland this week to officially launch her eagerly anticipated clothing collection at House of Fraser, Dundrum.
The former Made in Chelsea star made the most of her whistle stop stay, squeezing in a workout with No.17 personal trainer John Belton and catching up with her industry friends including stylist Ingrid Hoey.
The 25-year-old posted a phoáto to her social media accounts, crediting Ingrid with introducing her to up-and-coming Italian Irish designer Giovanna.
“How fab is this scarf?” Millie asked her followers, with almost 7,500 of them giving it the seal of approval.
The ‘Bacall’ Mongolian and Leather fringe scarf has also been snapped up by model Madeline Mulqueen, as well as fashion editors and bloggers.
The handmade piece is part of Gio’s AW 14 collection, and costs €295.
The 29-year-old graduated from Griffith College last year, with a Louis Copeland Tailoring Award under her belt and soon landed an internship with Joanne Hynes.
“I always get a kick out of seeing people wear my designs,” she told The Herald. “It was amazing and a great compliment when Madeline wore my dress at the Transformer premiere and I got loads of enquires after it.”
“I’d be completely delighted to see Mira Duma or Saoirse Ronan in Giovanna Borza designs, I admire their sense of style, individualism and talent,” she added.
Millie Mackintosh’s debut clothing collection, consisting of separates inspired by Millie’s glamorous signature style, is now available in store and online with prices starting from €59.
