10 couture gowns we hope to see on the Red Carpet this year

Oh to be rich and famous, with the designers-to-the-stars on speed dial.

Every time we sit on the couch watching the awards shows, we can't help but turn into spectators.

Like avid sports fans, we find ourselves shouting at the screen questioning the star's motives - only instead of moaning about a missed tackle, we're cursing their stylists.

If we were left in charge of their wardrobes, these are the new season couture gowns we would dress the A-listers in.

1. Zuhair Murad

There is something irresistible about a porcelain skinned red haired woman in a shade of cornflour blue. We would like to see Amy Adams, Jessica Chastain or Nicole Kidman in this embellished dress.

2. Valentino

An aristocractic dress with a modern twist. We would love a classic brunette beauty like Keira Knightley, Zooey Deschanel, Felicity Jones or Emily Blunt pull off this look.

3. Alexis Mabille

This caped-dress by couturier Alexis Mabille would be sensational on a blond with a statuesque physique. Preferably, Naomi Watts, Heidi Klum, Gwyneth Paltrow, or the age defying Helen Mirren.

4. Elie Saab

We've an eye firmly fixed on Sienna Miller, who rarely puts a style foot wrong. We'd love to see her return to her boho, whimsical roots with this extravagant creation by Elie Saab.

5. Armani Privé

A red carpet look with a difference, there's noting more alluring than a woman in a tailored suit. We'd like to see an established actress such as Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore or Jennifer Aniston take a risk with this look.

6. Dior

It's always a nice change when a celebrity options for a shorter hem at a formal event. Younger stars such as Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning or Hailee Steinfeld would do well with an age-appropriate dress like this one.

7. Jean Paul Gaultier

There are several high profile women who reliably default to embellishment and bling on the red carpet. We'd commend them for upping the ante in this sequined robe by the 'enfant terrible' Jean Paul Gaultier. Take note, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Beckinsale and Chrissy Teigen.

8. Atelier Versace

We love a fashion rebel. Would they be brave enough to opt for this risqué look presented by Donatella Versace at her sexiest couture show to date? Our money is on Kendall Jenner, Zendaya Coleman, Nicole Richie, Miley Cyrus or Cara Delevingne.

9. Elie Saab

Here is one we think would look right at home on one of our own. Laura Whitmore or Saoirse Ronan's willowy, graceful frames would be the perfect mannequin for this Elie Saab cocktail frock.

10. Zuhair Murad

And finally, a classic iridescent gown that is guaranteed to make a statement. This elegant number looks like it could be tailor made for someone like Diane Kruger, Camilla Alves, Katherine Heigl, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, or the future Queen, Kate Middleton.
