Fake Primark store spotted in Dubai
It's fake fashion gone mad as ultra-low budget high street chain Primark falls prey to counterfeiters in Dubai.
With such a miniscule percentage of the world's fashion lovers actually able to afford Louis Vuitton and Chanel, we can comprehend - though don't condone - a demand for counterfeit versions of their designs.
But in news that baffles us, Women's Wear Daily report that a fake Primark has been located in Dubai. Yes, you are reading that right. Not Prada, Primark: the pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap, ask-no-questions purveyor of the fastest fashion on earth (the ones not shy of 'paying homage' to labels further up the foodchain themselves).
Nestled on Bank Street in the country's Bur Dubai district, the store bearing the name of the Irish high street chain was first brought to the attention of Primark's owners, Associated British Foods, by happy shoppers calling to congratulate executives on their latest opening.
ABF are now "considering their legal options" according to a spokeswoman: "We are aware that there is a store in Dubai that purports to be part of our group. Primark does not operate any stores there and this is therefore not a legitimate Primark store".
