Everyday luxe: how to shine with affordable fashion gems from the high street
A hint of metallics, a glint of sparkle and the thrown-on glamour of a big white shirt with sequinned pants… Bairbre Power explores how to shine with affordable fashion gems from the high street, styled with pieces from Pandora's latest jewellery collection
Ilove those weeks buying for the holidays nearly as much as actually going on vacation and this week, I set about curating some choice pieces for those occasions when you want to shine, and look a million dollars but without spending that level of money. On the jewellery front, I factored in new pieces from the Pandora collection where the star for me is the new Matt Brilliance narrative, because it moves on the whole rose gold story which has dominated the international jewellery scene in recent years.
The new collection in the range is both matte yet sparkling because of its striking diamond-pointed texture. The merest hint of pink works well on all skin tones and I chose pieces to accessorise a chevron weave maxi dress (right) with luxe metallic fleck from the MW by Matthew Williamson collection at Debenhams.

The Studio by Preen label is another diffusion range from a high-end designer exclusive to Debenhams and the glamour of its cream/silver asymmetric hem dress was styled with a contemporary Clover necklace. With its sliding, Y-shaped design, you can wear the silver piece multiple ways. I don't think you can beat the thrown-on glamour of a statement white shirt teamed with metallics. For our shoot, I went for lined sequinned trousers from River Island which pack like a dream and no - they are not scratchy to wear.
Finish off the look with an arm of wishbone bracelets and elegant Cubic zirconia studs.
If block colours are more your thing, the jade dress from Samsøe & Samsøe, at Arnotts, (overleaf) is an interesting one. The fabric is a viscose/cupro mix and the latter gives it that luxurious, peach-feel and it is also machine washable! The open neckline makes it perfect to showcase a favourite necklace. I went for a modern take on that traditional, multi generational jewellery favourite - the silver T-Bar. This particular chunky chain features statement links shaped as knotted hearts, and you can adjust the T-bar to wear multiple ways. Also on the next page, check out the slim-cut denim dress with flanged shoulders from River Island.
Hair jewellery is all the rage, so I accessorised the denim with two pretty butterfly brooches attached to a ribbon. You can build on that butterfly theme with stud earrings and stackable rings featuring cubic zirconia butterflies which I teamed with a green Matthew Williamson dress for an elegant Boho look.
