Does Emma Watson really own just eight pairs of shoes?

The Bling Ring star revealed she's low-maintenance when it comes to her day-to-day fashion.

As if to make up for the fact that she's amassed a fortune estimated at £26 million, Emma Watson seems permanently at pains to point out that she's just a normal kid from the block.

Discussing her upcoming movie The Bling Ring , in which she plays Alexis Neiers - one of the group of teenagers incarcerated for burgling the homes of Orlando Bloom, Rachel Bilson and Paris Hilton - Watson was overwhelmed by the latter's collection of clothes and accessories when she visited it to film scenes for the Sophia Coppola-directed movie.

Of heiress Hilton's wardrobe, who famously left a spare key under her doormat, she said: "She could never wear all of those clothes and half of them were brand new and still had the price tag on. But I suppose she just bought them to have them. We've all bought things on impulse but that's an entirely different thing."

She added: "It's almost like consumerism as a form of kleptomania."

And then she dropped the bombshell: "I've got about eight pairs of shoes and that's it," before following up that statement with: "But it's easy for me to sound like a total hypocrite because, of course, I'm dressed in designer clothes right now."

Emma is a fan of classic black heels.
During Paris Fashion Week in 2008, she wears a pair of suede black pumps.
She wears nude peep toe shoes with her studded Burberry trenchcoat.
At the MTV Movie Awards in 2011, she wears lace up shoe boots with her cut-out dress.
At the 2007 premiere of Harry Potter, Emma rocks pointed white flats.
One of her strongest ever looks a the Met Gala.
For the last Harry Potter premiere, Emma wears another pair of Christian Louboutin black pumps.
At the 2010 Met Gala, she joins Burberry Chief Creative Director Christopher Bailey in a - what else? - Burberry dress and heels.
The actress wears yet another pair of black chunky heels with her sheer panelled sleeveless dress.
In her downtime, Emma prefers a more laidback look, complete with ballet flats.
Her Burberry gold sequinned dress is one of our favourite looks of hers...ever.
At the GQ Awards, she wears an Alexander McQueen tartan dress, black leather jacket and of course, black pumps.
At the 2011 Elle Style Awards, she wears leg-elongating nude pumps and a cut-out pastel dress.
At the 2010 Glastonbury festival, she wears a pair of practical flat shoes with her festival appropriate ensemble.
At last year's Glastonbury, she adds a rock-chick edge in a corset top, denim mini shorts and black knee high flat boots.
At The Bling Ring premiere, a sleek looking Emma wears a deep emerald dress with a plunging neckline complemented by a pair of spiky Christian Louboutin shoes.

Indeed, Watson is usually dripping in designer wares when she's photographed in public; this month alone she's sported four different pair of high heels, no doubt lent by fashion labels and then returned once she's done on the red carpet.

An eagle-eyed trawl of Watson photographed off-duty reveals that she in fact owns at least four pairs of ballet shoes; two pairs of black boots; nude sandals; brown sandals; some cream derby shoes… Come on Emma, even us civilians have more than eight pairs of shoes in our wardrobe - and we're more than happy to admit it.
