Darren Kennedy: Get brown with this... The colour trend that everyone can wear
Brown is the new black, as the AW18 collections revealed brown to be one of the biggest colour trends of the year.
Earthy, neutral browns are the staple shade but hues from right across the spectrum permeated the catwalks on clothing and accessories. Shades of tobacco, perhaps one of the most opulent hues, were seen on leather dresses, animal prints and teddy-bear coats. The trend was very visible at Chloé, who embraced the colour in a multitude of head-to-toe tonal looks with strong silhouettes. The label featured pieces like jodhpur trousers, trench coats, tweed trousers, chunky knits, pleated skirts and V-neck shirt dresses. From glossy chocolates to peanut and toffee tones, there's a shade of brown to suit everyone. If you're in the market for statement boots, look no further than Isabel Marant's slouching thigh-high cowboy boots in tan leather. You'll not be disappointed.
Actor Vanessa Hudgens is embracing the vogue for all things brown, and her boho side, in this Alberta Ferretti Spring 2018 dress. The contrasting brown shoulder straps give the look a hint of edge while the rust denim jacket makes the look season-appropriate.

Tonal looks are always a winner but don't be afraid to mix brown with other winter favourites such as black or navy. Despite some people's objections, black with brown is one of my favourite colour combos.
