Trends come and go, but midi-skirts are here to stay. When you think about it, they really are ideal for this time of year - not too long and not too short, and they are incredibly versatile. At Salvatore Ferragamo, archival floral prints were cut and reworked into midi- length skirts.

At Burberry, longer-length pencil-skirt shapes in a chocolate-brown leather which looked good enough to eat took to the catwalk. Elsewhere, A-line silhouettes, perfect for the office and after-work wear, dominated.

The message was loud and clear: the calf-grazing garment is set to become this autumn/winter's wardrobe staple. Because they land at calf length, they can easily be worn with flat shoes or heels without having to worry about the hemline.

Look for autumnal colours like ox-blood, camel, brown and ochre, as well as patterns such as snake or crocodile print. Team yours with an oversized knitted sweater or denim jacket, biker boots or chunky Western-inspired belts.

Darren Criss

Darren Criss always demonstrates an innate sense of style, with a ‘more is more’ approach. He never shies away from colour, or embellishments for that matter. He hit the red carpet recently wearing this Givenchy A/W 2019 shirt paired with black flared trousers and classic black derbies with metal toe. Nailed it.

One for the boys

I could wax lyrical about the benefits of sea-salt spray for hours, but suffice to say that it is having a bit of a moment in the grooming world. Spray directly onto damp hair and massage through before drying. It instantly changes the texture of your hair to create natural movement and volume, meaning that you will only need a minimal amount of product when it comes to styling. DETAILS: David Mallett Australian Sea Salt Spray, (€30)

Top Tip

Midi-skirts can be worn rain or shine. The styling options are endless, too. Go casual with trainers and a T-shirt or opt for elegance for evening-wear with heels and a blouse. One thing is for sure, you'll never be short of options.
