Clever Couture: Victoria Beckham from catwalk to high street
It's a fair assumption that Victoria Beckham doesn't like anything to be messy. Clean lines, neat silhouettes and block colours marched down the catwalk for her Autumn/Winter show. Even the grooming was super minimal with barely-there make-up and every wisp of hair tucked tightly into swimming cap style headpieces. Each look perfectly executed and powerfully elegant.
She is not the only designer to embrace a head-to-toe, tone-on-tone palette this season. Diane von Furstenberg chose cobalt blue while Mulberry went all out with emerald green.
If you're going to profess such loyalty to a single hue, let it be rich garnet red. It's destined to blitz every shop floor this season, is deliciously rich and promises to flatter. The key to committing to a matching ensemble is to experiment with texture. Matte jersey mixed with a mock croc bag like this one from River Island is an ideal combination.
