Clever Couture: Marc by Marc Jacobs from catwalk to high street
Marc Jacobs has always given his diffusion line a vintage thrown-together feel as if a horde of teenage girls had been let loose in their local charity shop and allowed to play dress up for the day. the father of grunge, Jacobs applies a thrift-store chic aesthetic to his designs.
This winter, Jacobs took inspiration from all things military. So the Marc girl who is always at the frontline of fashion marching to the beat
of her own drum looks like she pillaged an army surplus store -- haphazardly mixing little boy drummer jackets with Soviet-style fur hats and army bargain trench coats.
Red, taupe and khaki collided together in a mix of a-line skirts and oversized knits, as the models paraded with military-style canvas bags with scarlet straps strewn across their chests like sashes of honour.
