Clever Couture: Jean-Paul Gaultier from catwalk to high street
You've got to love Gaultier, not only for his sense of style, but for his innate sense of humour. His AW11 show was part Parisian chic, part striptease.
Each model entered the catwalk fully layered, then proceeded to peel off coats and scarves (no more!) and toss them into a pile. You can picture Gaultier chuckling backstage at the irreverence of it all.
It's great to have a stash of black dresses for emergency situations and this lace number by RI Roksanda Ilincic for Debenhams is far from your average LBD. Its sculpted shape, detailed neckline and midi length are timeless and flattering.
For a nod to the Gaultier, finish with bouffant hair and this sequin coat from M&S, guaranteed to keep you cosy throughout the party season.
