Before Night Falls
Make-up artist Leonard Daly creates three striking party looks for the festive season. SHADOW DANCERS Metallic Smokey Eye Roz
"Apply the foundation with your fingers. This foundation is perfect for all skin types but particularly good for dry skin. First line the inner waterline of your eye, top and bottom. Then curl your lashes using the Shu Uemura lash curler. For the eye shadow, use the darkest colour first.
"Focus on the outer part of your eye. When you have blended the dark shade, use the metallic shadow where your pupil would be if your eye was open and also in the very inner corner of your eye. Use lots of mascara – I applied three coats. When you're applying multiple layers of mascara do not let the mascara dry fully, as this will cause it to flake. I finished with a perfectly nude pink shade from Armani. These lipsticks are perfect as they don't bleed."
"I used MAC Face and Body for Danielle's foundation. This is one of my favourites and I have been using it in my kit since I started doing make-up about 800 years ago! It's perfect – light in texture but it is also buildable.
"The only difference about Danielle's eye make-up is that I used a Sisley eyeliner after curling the lashes and blended it using a soft blending brush before applying the shadows as before."
"I used NARS new Radiant Cream Compact, which has a dewy finish and great coverage. For the eyes I used MAC Prolong Wear Paint Pots in Quite Natural, Constructivist and Dangerous Couvée. Use the darkest colour first and layer with lighter ones. Use the shiny one last to give your eyes that glistening finish. Apply a single layer of mascara. For the lips I used Sisley's L29. I love Sisley's lipsticks – they have maximum colour pay-off without drying.
"This is one of my all-time favourite looks. And it is so simple to achieve. The foundation was the same as used on Danielle. I used a brown MAC eyeliner to line the eye just in the lash line and then blended it with a small blending brush.
"Then I used one of my favourite products ever: Tom Ford's Shade and Illuminate #1. I use this product on almost every single face that I paint.
"For this look I used it as an eyeshadow. It's so simple to use – just blend it on with your fingers. Use the dark one first and then use the light one on top. This gives you beautiful, shiny lids.
"For the lips I used MAC's RiRi Woo, a really beautiful red lipstick. It has a blue undertone, which means it will make your teeth look white."
THE ULTIMATE EYELINER
"FOR THE SKIN I USED THE ARMANI MAESTRO COMPACT AND TO HIGHLIGHT I USED AERIN BY EST&EACUTE;E LAUDER DUO TO HIGHLIGHT THE CHEEKBONES. I USED THE AERIN EST&EACUTE;E LAUDER WINTER PALETTE AND SHU UEMURA'S PRINCESS PALETTE TO LIGHTLY SHADE THE CREASE OF THE EYE. THEN I USED BLACK TRACK GEL LINER FROM MAC TO LINE AS CLOSE TO THE LASH LINE AS POSSIBLE, BEFORE USING THE NEW STICK-ON EYELINER FLICKS FROM LANC&OCIRC;ME. FOR THE LIPS I USED YSL ROUGE PUR COUTURE IN GOLDEN LUSTRE 108."
"I used Tom Ford Traceless Foundation on Danielle. For the eyes I contoured the brow crease using Bobbi Brown Twilight Collection. For the eyeliner, I used MAC Black Track on the lash line and on the top and bottom of the outer eye before applying the stick-on eyeliner. For the lips I used the new Armani CC lipstick in 101."
