Bairbre Power... Out and about
Our resident diarist calls into the best parties and events around the country
The woman with the biggest smile in Dublin last week was Marian O'Gorman, CEO of the Kilkenny Group, who attended the launch of the Irish family-owned brand's AW17 collection with a stylish breakfast at Residence.
Naturally, Marian was dressed head-to-toe in Kilkenny, and her black and silver FeeG dress perfectly showcased her Jill Graham silver neckpiece. Marian was pictured centre with her daughter, Melissa O'Gorman (left), head of buying, and with Kathryn Ryan, the new marketing manager who joins them from Spin FM. There was a great turnout of designers including Fiona Heaney of FeeG and (beloew) Caroline Kilkenny (left) and Aideen Bodkin, two experts at dressing Irish presidents and the wife of an Irish president.
Meanwhile across town, the Lynx crew were out in force to hear (below) Paul Galvin - pictured here with Aileen Gaskin of the Communications Clinic - at the Lynx #FindYourMagicShop Summer Series chat on South William Street.
Paul spoke about his journey from sport to fashion and launching his creative collaboration with Dunnes Stores. The #FindYourMagicShop is open until September 1 with three Lynx products for a tenner. There's a Magic Mirror - an augmented reality experience, customised 'Limited Edition Dublin Blend' Daily Fragrances and interactive 4D sound shower installation. However, they don't sell Paul's 'Shelby' €25 long johns, which he sported on the night.
I got to meet the stunning Italian pianist, Vanessa Benelli Mosell, before she makes her Irish debut on September 14 at the National Concert Hall. The 28-year-old from Prato joins the RTÉ Concert Orchestra to perform one of the best-loved of all classical pieces, Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2. Ultra romantic, full of gorgeous tunes, used in the movie Brief Encounter and in the Eric Carmen song All By Myself. A critic wrote how you might think Vanessa is just another blonde babe seized on by a major label for her looks more than her talent, but they urged me to listen to the CD and discover how Mosell is a serious artist with a formidable technique and forthright musical personality. She has it all. Definitely a date for your September diary.
It's 121 shopping days until Christmas Eve. I was happily in the thick of yuletide excitement with model Karen Fitzpatrick at the launch of the Christmas store at BTs in Grafton Street. Her daughter, Zara, turns one in October, and Karen can't wait to bring her to Santa.
