Susannagh Grogan's statement print for AW18 is a multitude of hand-painted flowers and leaves grouped together in a beautiful array of colour and geometric patterns.

"For this collection I wanted to go back to my techniques from the days, many moons ago, when I first started in textile design and everything was hand painted and I used only inks, brushes and gouache. I went back to what I loved, painterly florals. I always like to merge the traditional with the new, whether it's in my home, my print designs and even how I dress.

"This season I thought about merging that visual effect with a back-to-basics approach, and this theme was followed on in my photoshoot which was very pared back and relaxed at one of my favourite places, Coliemore Harbour. This is where I go skiff racing several times a week during the summer, and being so close to nature and the elements is utterly thrilling. The colour palette includes autumnal favourites of ruby and emerald on backgrounds of classic navy, black, khaki and cream. For extra impact, I added in hightlights of fuchsia, teal, soft purples, hyacinth, peacock blue and pinks."

The new collection features five different prints including 'Flower Flash' with a multitude of Susannagh's hand-painted flower heads on a cream background with a striking black and white zigzag border. The 'Ditzie Folk' features traditional, cut paper prints while the 'Floral Whirlpool' assortment of flowers turn into a swirling kaleidoscope of colours.

A small rectangular piece (150x20cm) costs €90 and can be worn as a headband or as a skinny scarf tight around the neck with T-shirt. The small square (70x70cm), €90, can be worn as a tight knot around the neck or tied to a handbag. It's great worn at the neck for maximum chic with a crisp white shirt.

The classic square (90x90cm), €150, is the most versatile size and can be worn at the front of the neck or tied on the head for bad hair days. The extra large square (140x140cm), €220, looks great worn unstructured around the neck with a leather jacket.
