And baby came too....Victoria Beckham brings along little Harper for Dublin visit
STYLE queen Victoria Beckham was almost upstaged by her one-year-old daughter Harper when she sat down to present a runway show of her AW12 collections at Brown Thomas, Grafton Street, Dublin today.
The popstar-turned-designer flew into Dublin for a few hours to meet over 50 customers who have supported her fashion brand, one of the top performers at the Irish store over the last four years.
However the arrival of little Harper, cute in a navy dress with red trim and matching red socks and hairband distracted the waiting fashion press who momentarily switched their attention from frocks to the little girl who smiled and waved to the group after her mum gave her a ' thumb's up' sign.
Harper. who celebrated her first birthday this month sat first on her mum's knee and then walked off to explore the designer room before being quickly scooped up by a member of Victoria's entourage.
On the flight to Dublin, Victoria tweeted a photo of herself getting her make-up done. Then she met a group of 20 fashion writers in the designer room where she clothes sell from €450- €2,550.
The petite designer wore a military-style €2,450 linear structured black coat from her top end Victoria Beckham collection and stretched out her bare, Californian-tanned legs to reveal black patent shoes with narrow gold stiletto heel.
In chatty form, Victoria (38) said she liked to get to as many of her retailer partners as possible "and just meet the ladies that are buying my dresses.
"Why do I do what I do ? I do it because I love women. I want to empower women. I want women to feel good about themselves and feel beautiful. I want to give them what they want so for me to meet them and get into fitting rooms with them and help them while they are trying on clothes, you know that kind of thing is really important for me. And to get feedback, I want that, I want to better myself constantly."
Victoria said "it's so nice to come back. You know myself and David really, really love Dublin, that's why we got married here so it's a real treat to come back . Brown Thomas have always been very supportive of me and my collection right from the start. It's a really exciting day. The boys couldn't come today but Harper is here with me . There's a really good energy in Ireland, that's what I love."
After lunching in store, Victoria's schedule for the afternoon was to meet customers who have been supportive of her two clothing brands, her original Victoria Beckham brand which sells for between €1,200-€2,550 at Brown Thomas and her newer, Victoria Victoria Beckham label which is more affordable and aimed at a younger market. Adjoining rails were cleared to create space for a full display of coats and dresses from the two ranges.
The press pack included a running order and a signed photograph of Victoria looking shocked, holding a paper cup.
