Alexa Chung to design her own clothing range
Alexa Chung has landed her very own line of clothing with hip American brand Madewell (a J. Crew brand). Think Gap or Uniqlo with a bit of Zara thrown into the mix.
Madewell weren’t the first to propose the idea. Chung was adverse to the notion of a collaboration fearing that it would be a money driven project where her creative vision would come secondary. Obviously Madewell laid those fears to rest and her line will be launching in September 2010.
Chung has said her primary aim is to design “Things that (her) girlfriends would wear, and say, ‘That’s sick’!”. Expect high-waisted pants and jeans, velvet dresses with Peter Pan collars and dungaree dresses.
It is the next obvious step for Alexa, having already modelled in campaigns for New Look, DKNY, Wren and Pepe
She went from unknown model/TV presenter to style icon in a very short space of time. Her rock star boyfriend helped to raise her profile, but there’s no denying her sense of style. She single-handedly made Granny cardigans, pea coats and brogues sexy, no mean feat despite her beautiful face and endless legs.
