Agyness Deyn to launch Harajuku Girls-inspired clothing range
Agyness Deyn's second Dr Martens collection is inspired by Japan.
The model-and-actress's Spring/Summer 13 line will hit stores on February 22. Her first offering had a grunge feel as she looked to '90s icons such as Winona Ryder when she was designing and this time around the aesthetic is very different.
Tokyo's Harajuku Girls were the starting point, with a typical look being a dark denim mini-dress with long sleeves and a full skirt, paired with orange sandal shoes with bow detailing and white ankle socks.
Other pieces include a simple white T-shirt with red sequinned hearts on the front, a cropped grey zip-up knit and bright orange playsuit.
"As with the Autumn/Winter 2012-13 range, it will appeal to girls who are confident and who have a strong personal expression of style and identity in the way that they dress and what this says about themselves," Agyness told vogue.co.uk.
Also in the collection are baseball hats, silver sandals and shift dresses.
Since making her name as a model for the likes of Mulberry and Vivienne Westwood, Agyness has now moved into film. She recently explained she simply rang her agent and explained she needed a change, something she has explained further in a new interview.
"I had been modelling for 12 years, and that's a good chunk of time, and I just got to a point... I think it was the stage where I shaved my hair off. I used to shave my hair off when I was younger - I used to do it a lot, just for a change, different colours, mad, really bad haircuts," she told Love magazine. "So I needed a change. I guess I could have been like, 'It's just a job,' and gone to work - but I can't do that I don't think. The thought of doing it and thinking, 'Only half an hour left.'"
When she started out in the industry Agyness loved modelling, and would even attend Fashion Weeks without being booked just so she could meet designers. Once that excitement faded, she began to look for something "next level", which is where acting came in.
The star added she now has the modelling bug again and is looking forward to taking part in some new shoots.
