Who embarks on the Christmas party season wanting to look the same all the time? Mix it up, change it around and you have a different look for every night for the week ... but on a budget.

From your office party to catching up with college friends, a night on the dance floor, family get together or a romantic date, your wardrobe requirements will be constantly changing over the next few weeks..

This week we hit the high street to find the best pieces for this year's party season and our hunting ground was Athlone Towncentre's selection of shops.

We moved from favourite French 'affordable' Promod to Zara, a perennial retail crush and by the end, we had a very different look for every night of the week and cash to spare.

Discover the power of red with a 1920s style flapper dress at Coast.

We did exceptionally well on our posh-look-for-less hunt. Next had fabulous low cost shoes guaranteed to turn heads like these bronze shimmer shoe boots for €47.

Diamante trimmed suede shoes with high cut sides (€75 at Clarks) are just the thing if you want to draw attention but crave comfort and something to lift opaque black tights on to a party platform.

We loved the flirty party dresses we found at the Born store, so embellished, you can afford to tone down the jewellery and maybe go for fine chains and a subtle cocktail ring.

Promod's jet beaded blouson has the subtle power to transform ordinary black office trousers or glamorise urban chic, double stripe track bottoms, a look Prada is rocking at designer prices.

Easy care velour, which has the same luxury pile as velvet, is a more cost effective option and gives great texture for a party look.

Topshop's mini dress with lace inset costs €53 and looks exceptionally catwalk chic. Teamed with a €39.95 military blazer with very cute chain epaulettes from H&M.

Coast had the most authentic looking posh jewellery, especially their tassel pieces.

An M&S devore dress with elegant Art Deco pattern is a great option if you are looking for a fabulous party dress with sleeves. Pair with the black cardi with an embellished neckline for another layer.

If it's a glitzy office-to-bar piece you want, check out Next's bronze jumper. And you still have money left for Christmas shopping... !
