Low-key minimalists, look away now! Fun, flirty feathers are about to make themselves known. Many designers went all out with frivolous feathers this season, evoking images of old-school Hollywood glamour.

Pierpaolo Piccioli was widely praised for his spring/summer outing at Valentino, which many leading editors deemed "perfect". In this whimsical but wearable collection, feathers sprouted from heels of sandals (almost like winged messengers to the ancient gods), as well as wide-brimmed hats and hemlines.

At Dries Van Noten, Loewe and Oscar de la Renta, we saw tops composed of colourful marabou, while at Richard Quinn and Rochas it was all about elegant feathered pencil skirts… sure to shimmy their way onto a dance floor near you any minute now.

A full-on feather ensemble can be tricky to pull off. Look for details such as trims on skirts, slip dresses, suit trousers or blazer sleeves (very Prada).

Natalie Portman

The new Avengers: Endgame movie is really upping the stakes for red-carpet style. At the LA premiere, Natalie Portman opted for a demure and classic all-black look by Dior. While the (literally) buttoned-up top half showed she meant business, the sequin skirt with its daring high slit and silver embroidery ensured she landed a spot on best-dressed lists everywhere.

Since their introduction to the mainstream grooming market in 2014, beard oils have continued to surge in popularity - in fact, analysts say that the market has quadrupled in less than five years. As more and more young men opt to grow their facial hair, you can bet that boutique-style beard products will continue to launch. Le Labo's vegan, paraben-free offering, made with jojoba, grapeseed and sunflower oils, is often cited as a cult favourite. The refreshing lavender scent also helps to seal the deal. For those without facial fuzz (that includes women), a beard oil doubles up as a great facial oil. Apply all over the face before bed for super overnight hydration. Top Tip

Jewellery and accessories are an easy way to dip your toe into this trend; think floaty boho feather earrings, a showstopping pendant or a tasselled silk evening bag.
