Westlife star Markus Feehily gushes about his new love
Former Westlife star Markus Feehily has revealed that he has found love for the first time since splitting with his long term boyfriend more than three years ago.
The singer has admitted that he has fallen for someone “special” who does not work in the showbiz industry.
“There is someone special and I’m really, really happy at the moment,” he said speaking on TV3’s 7 O’Clock Show.
“He’s fantastic. It’s not new and he’s not famous. It’s great to feel secure and happy, it really is.”
The singer announced his split with his long term boyfriend Kevin McDaid on Twitter in December 2011 after seven years together.
“Sadly, Kevin and I are no longer together. We’ve had an amazing seven years. We won’t be answering any questions about this as it’s a very private matter,” he tweeted at the time.
The Sligo-born singer later opened up to the press about the break-up.
“When you’re faced with a challenge in life you can either let it consume you or you can stand up and try and learn as a person and move on.
“It’s my first major relationship and obviously my first break-up so I’m dealing with it.
“I think I’m dealing with it quite well but I wouldn’t lie and say it’s easy. But these things happen in life.”
This week, Markus released his debut solo single Love is a Drug which is said to draw inspiration from the breakdown of his relationship with Kevin.
