‘The break-up was quick, painful and aggressive and my world felt bleak’- Sile Seoige on how yoga changed her life
Galway golden girl Sile Seoige has said her life was transformed from the moment she stepped into her first yoga class.
The former Newstalk presenter qualified as a yoga teacher in January and said it helped her in the aftermath of her cancer treatment and the breakdown of her relationship.
“Yoga has changed my life and for the better. I’m calmer and more content than ever," Sile said according to The Sunday World.
“The great thing is that I can do both media work and yoga and maybe even combine both at some stage in the future, which would allow me to explore the benefits of eastern philosophy alongside western beliefs, which would be brilliant."
Seoige admitted she was in a “dark place” when her show ended on Newstalk and her relationship broke down.
“Three years ago I was presenting a successful radio show and I was in a happy relationship, or at least that’s what it looked like to the outside world.
“But when I first joined a yoga class, I was lost. I was physically, emotionally and mentally drained. I didn’t know who I was. I had just finished another course of treatment for thyroid cancer.
“The long term relationship that I was in also finished abruptly. Simply put, I was not in a good place. The break up was quick, painful and aggressive. My world felt bleak.”
The star revealed that yoga helped her grow and move past the most difficult few years of her life.
“Yoga has helped me rebuild, reform, and ultimately to transform my life for the better. I feel grounded, more rooted and connected than I’ve ever been,” she said.
