Smurfit and supermodel add more glam to K Club
The K Club, of course, is used to glamour of a certain style. It has played host to Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco and their family (who flew in from the principality on their royal private jet), and more recently pop superstar Justin Bieber with his entourage, and more recently still, American rapper Gucci Mane.
But last weekend the glamometer truly went off the scale at Dr Smurfit's world-famous, five-star Kildare establishment. This is because Alexander Smurfit, son of the aforesaid Dr Michael, jetted-in with his stunning Russian supermodel girlfriend Victoria Bonya and their young daughter, Angelina Laetitia.
Victoria was once named one of most beautiful people of Moscow. No doubt she was Putin on the style at the K Club last week. The blonde catwalk queen-turned-TV presenter looked super-stylish in a black jacket and red leopard-print scarf and Louis Vuitton backpack in the hotel. Perhaps she didn't need the LV backpack when she accompanied her partner fishing.
They also had dinner at the hotel's Byerley Turk Restaurant, where the award-winning food is so good you wouldn't want to be Russian out the door...
Michael Flatley and happy family spotted in Ascot
It's like buses, isn't it? Nothing for ages - and then two come along at once. This I say because your diarist hadn't heard of Gayle Killilea or Michael Flatley in ages.
And then, last Friday, one of my Deep Throats on the payroll in England spotted them - at separate tables - in a posh restaurant in Ascot.
The one-time Lord Of The Dance was with his wife Niamh and their 10-year-old son Michael St James, while Gayle was dining with a pal in the other part of the swish eaterie.
Whatever about Ms Killilea, is Flatley with his happy family living in the Ascot/Virginia Water area?
I'm told there are good schools in the area.
Something in the heir on Shrewsbury Road
There's something in the heir. At least there was last weekend in the smartest part of Dublin 4 on Shrewsbury Road at the home of David Doyle - son of the late legend and hotelier PV Doyle - and wife Cristina.
It was all bling in Ballsbridge last Saturday night for the 21st of stunning Sophie Doyle. The bash, at her parents' prestigious pad, had a Full Moon theme, with all the 150 or so guests wearing white.
An area of the house was transformed into a nightclub with all-white furniture and a dance floor. But there was more. Fire throwers and dancers added to the atmosphere of D4 joie de vivre on the night in honour of the beautiful birthday girl, who looked striking in a lace white dress. Ashley, Sophie's sister and 'insta queen', was there with her boyfriend James Tracy, who plays for Leinster.
A mere four kilometres away on the same night in Lillie's nightclub on Grafton Street Niall Breslin, aka Bressie, was also celebrating his birthday. The Blizzards singer popped in late with five friends. There was no birthday cake or much of a palaver, as Bressie is one of Irish life's more private and decent chaps. You could also say the same of singer/songwriter Damien Dempsey who was also in Lillie's last Saturday night with some pals.
My Deep Throat on Grafton Street, alas, had no further information. So I am unable, sadly, to inform you whether Damien sang happy birthday to Bressie or even whether the duo meet up to discuss forming a post-modern super-group.
Louis and the Duchess out lighting up Mayfair
You take the boy out of Kiltimagh but who says you can't take the Kiltimagh out of the boy? Actually, you can.
Last Saturday night Louis Walsh was spotted dining a deux in Sexy Fish in London's Berkeley Square House - with the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, no less.
The charming if acid-tongued Duke of the X Factor told me that the ex-wife of Prince Andrew is "a great character."
"She loves Ireland, Cork especially. I told her she was Irish with her red hair. She really is great fun," added Louis who is no stranger to great fun himself.
Indeed a few days earlier in London, he was out for dinner with Twiggy in C London in Mayfair.
"She is fab," Louis said of the former model who personified the 1960s for many. "I know her very well. She loves Irish music," said Louis, who recorded in London last week a string of TV interviews - Celebrity Juice, Through The Keyhole, Loose Women and Pride Of Britain among them - to promote the X Factor.
The Irish superstar added that he is judging Ireland's Got Talent in December with Jason Byrne, Denise Van Outen and Michelle Visage, before spending the Yuletide in Dublin.
Louis The Sun King will then ring in the New Year in his second (or is that third?) home in sweltering South Beach in Miami.
So, it's official: you can take the boy out of Kiltimagh and plonk him on a beach with a bottle of X Factor 50.
