A pregnant reality TV star and her husband have been murdered, according to authorities.
A contestant on the 'Food Network Star' reality TV show, Cristie Schoen Codd and her husband were reported missing on Sunday by their concerned family.
The car and pets of the five-month-pregnant star were located at their family home and authorities believe the couple were murdered last Thursday.
A man believed to be a neighbour of the couple was arrested and charged. According to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, the man was "charged with two counts of felony first degree murder, one felony count of breaking or entering, larceny after breaking and entering and free text felony".
He made his first appearance in court yesterday, where he was told that the maximum penalty he could face for each murder charge is life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
FOX reports that arrest warrants state Owens "unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did of malice afterthought kill and murder" Cristie and JT Codd and their unborn child on March 12.
Authorities have said that Owens is also a suspect in an unsolved missing person's case from 2000.
Cristie appeared on the eight season of the 'Food Network Star' show. A spokesperson for the network said "our thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this difficult time".
