Lady Gaga splits with fiancé over fame pressure
Lady Gaga and her actor fiancé Taylor Kinney have put their relationship on hold while they deal with the strains of stardom.
The 'Born This Way' singer said they have been "taking a break" and urged fans to support them.
In a post on Instagram, Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, said she and Kinney "always believed we are soulmates".
She wrote: "Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break.
"We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared.
"Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."
The emotive post was made alongside a photo of them arm in arm.
The pair have been engaged since Valentine's Day last year, having met in 2011 on set during filming of the video for her song 'You & I'.
Gaga is currently working on her next solo album which is a follow-up to 'Cheek To Cheek', her 2014 Grammy-winning record with Tony Bennett.
The musician has also won plaudits for her acting and recently collected a Golden Globe for her role in the series 'American Horror Story: Hotel'.
Kinney, who stars in the US TV series 'Chicago Fire', also appeared in 'Zero Dark Thirty', the 2012 Academy Award-winning thriller about the assassination of Osama Bin Laden.
