Holly Carpenter celebrates 2016 with boyfriend Danny O'Reilly at Coronas NYE gig

My boyfriend Danny O’Reilly was obviously playing with The Coronas who were the headline act, and they went on stage about 11.45pm and performed for about an hour.

The place was absolutely packed with revellers and music fans, and it was brilliant craic. They raised the roof for the countdown and it was such an exciting place to be for the start of 2016.

As well as the Coronas, Fatboy Slim was also performing as was Kila, Little Hours and Ryan Sheridan, so there was a great mix of music.

Afterwards, there was an after-party in the 3Arena itself, which was really handy as it meant we didn’t have to move somewhere else.

Beforehand, a bunch of us went for a bite to eat at The Port House on South William Street before heading to the gig. It was a great laugh.

I absolutely love tapas and they always work really well when you have a bit of a crowd.

I had a little bit of last-minute stress before I went out, though, as three dresses I ordered online on Monday and paid for express shipping to have them delivered in time for New Year’s Eve, but there was still no sign of them yesterday morning, so I had to resort to my back-up plan – as they say “first-world problems”.

So I had a brilliant start to the New Year, but I have definitely had my fair fill of alcohol. It’s time to be good from now on – at least for a while.
