Former footballer David Ginola leaves wife of 25 years for 27-year-old French model
French football star David Ginola has left his wife of more than 25 years for a model almost half his age, it has been reported.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle star (49) is reported to have “fallen head over heels in love” with 27-year-old French model Maeva Denat and has left his wife Coraline (48).
According to The Sun on Sunday, Ginola and his new love were pictured in Paris on a romantic trip in September, months after the former footballer suffered a heart-attack.
The footballer collapsed during a charity match in the Mandelieu region of France in May, before he was airlifted to hospital in Monaco. Ginola was shocked four-times with a defibrillator before undergoing a quadruple bypass operation, during which he was dead for eight minutes before being revived.
Speaking to the publication a source said Ginola’s wife Coraline is “devastated” by the breakup and has stopped using her married name. The pair have two children together Andrea (25) and Carla (22).
“Maeva is mad about David, and the feeling is mutual.
“The only sad part of it all is David’s wife Coraline, who is naturally devastated about what has happened.
“It’s uncanny how Maeva looks just like Coraline when she started out with David in the 1990s.”
According to the publication, Coraline and Maeva had an encounter in the Monaco hospital, while David was undergoing life-saving surgery.
Speaking after the operation the former footballer spoke of the scary moment his heart gave way.
“I was running back to the halfway line when boom, my heart just stopped and I hit the ground face-first. The players thought I was joking but then my friend said, ‘Look at him, he is not OK, he is not fooling around.’
“I swallowed my tongue and my friends fought to get it out of my throat, but my teeth kept clamping down on their fingers.
“Someone called the emergency services and they said, ‘Forget the tongue, he is dead, his heart has stopped, you need to concentrate on pumping his chest.”
