Zayn Malik ended engagement after Perrie Edwards 'told him to stop partying'
Zayn Malik ended his relationship with Perrie Edwards after she told him to stop partying, it’s been claimed.
News the former One Direction star had called off their engagement, reportedly by text, broke earlier this month. His decision has left Perrie devastated, with a source close to the pair claiming it followed a series of showdowns between the couple.
The insider told British magazine Heat that Perrie issued Zayn with an ultimatum three weeks ago. She apparently suggested they should postpone their wedding until he settled down, following a crazy few months since he left the boy band in March.
Her comments reportedly prompted the 22-year-old to go out three nights in a row, leaving his fiancée in distress. Upon his return the Little Mix singer allegedly issued a second ultimatum, stating that she wouldn’t move into their new home until he got his partying under control. She reportedly hoped this would make him see the error of his ways, but it had the opposite response and led to him ending their engagement.
“She left him a voicemail raging about everything she’s done for him – it all came flooding out,” the source said.
Perrie, also 22, quickly flew to America with her bandmates to promote their new music. While she insisted she was “good” in one of her first post-split interviews, it’s believed her smile is all just a facade to mask her heartbreak.
“Little Mix were all in upper class where we were and they seemed to be chatting to each other, but Perrie wasn’t really joining in,” a Heat reader called Paula told the outlet. “When we picked up our bags, she got a message on her phone and became upset. Jesy [Nelson] took her over to some chairs and was trying to calm her down – she was crying for at least ten minutes while I was there and was still really upset as I left.”
