YouTube star Zoella reveals Cameron Diaz 'coached' her on fame when she wanted to quit
YouTube sensation Zoe Sugg has revealed that Cameron Diaz "coached" on fame her when she wanted to finish her career.
Zoe (27) has risen to fame thanks to her beauty and lifestyle YouTube channel, Zoella, and has gained over 11 million subscribers since creating it in 2009.
However, the Brighton native has admitted that she considered giving up her channel at the height of her fame because she struggled to cope with it.
"One really cool thing that did come out of that, where I was struggling with the fame stuff - Cameron Diaz actually Skyped me," she said in her latest video.
"And that is something I've never shared before. It was such a huge help. She Skyped me for an hour and a half and we just talked and she coached me.
"She basically gave me the best tips that I have carried with me in order to get back to a good place. Also just to put some perspective on it all. It is weird being well known. It's not something you can learn anywhere."
Zoe, whose novel Girl Online broke the record for the fastest selling debut novel since records began, said that speaking to the actress helped to give her "perspective."
"It just put some perspective on it all. It is weird being well known. It's not something you can learn anywhere.
To have her give up some of her time to speak to me meant the world to me. She is honestly just one of the loveliest people.
I'm much more happy, much more confident and much more settled. I've learned not to really care anymore."
