Xpose's Aisling O'Loughlin is heading to Budapest for a well-earned Christmas break.

She's off for a week with her mum Alice and baby son Louis.

"I'm heading over because I've got an appointment with Creative Dental over there, I'm going to get a crown but I'm also going to relax and enjoy the Christmas markets and some mulled wine as well," she told the Diary.

"Budapest is a really interesting place - it's a great city so I'm excited to head away for the week."

Other son Patrick (3) will be staying at home with Aisling's partner Nick while her mum helps her with one-year-old Louis.

Tinkering

"The boys will have a great time at home, tinkering with the motorbike and spending time outdoors, there'll be no fear of them," said Aisling.

"I'm really looking forward to getting away as the boys haven't been sleeping well lately so it'll be great to have my mum help me while we're away. She's great so I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep."

Aisling (36) is also in need of a break as she'll be busy after Christmas working on Xpose while also developing ideas and content for her new show, Life, which she will present with Sybil Mulcahy and Michael Ryan.

"Life is going to be postponed for the minute because our January/February schedules are actually jam-packed, which is a great thing, so it's just finding the place for it because we want to make sure it's right when we do start it," she said.

"We want to make sure that everything is in place because it will just keep rolling once it starts, there's still a lot to be figured out but hopefully it will air in the spring but we're not putting an exact date on it yet.

Challenge

"But when it does start up I will be handing the Xpose mantle on to somebody else and starting my own new challenge."

Aisling also believes that UTV Ireland has breathed new life into Irish media.

"With UTV coming into the market it has allowed a lot of opportunities for people in the industry - there's all these new shows starting on TV3 and all these creatives getting involved so it's a great time for Irish broadcasting," she said.

"We're excited but we have to be patient and I have to focus on Xpose too because while I'm on it, I give it 100pc - I don't have one leg out the door just yet."
