Irish rugby star Gordon D'Arcy has opened up about becoming a father.

The Leinster and Ireland star  is expecting his first child with his model wife Aoife Cogan and said they aren't worried about having their hands full with a new baby on the way, a 10 stone puppy and working together at their pilates studio, Form School.

Gordon told Anton Savage on Today FM that he isn't worried about their boisterous Leonberger puppy Albert interacting with their little one.

"We’ve a good balance in family life," he told the broadcaster.

"A couple of my friends have been over with their kids, he runs over and licks their feet. We’re quietly confident with him."

The pair, who have been married for two and a half years, set up the successful exercise studio in Dublin city centre last year.

"You hear these things, 'never go into business with friends or family', but we’re open a year and it’s taken on a life of its own.

"We’ve a very good skill set – I do the business and finance side of things, while Aoife is very much front of house and deals with social media and making sure there’s a friendly face when they walk in the door."

While former Miss Ireland Aoife revealed over the weekend that her husband's beard is gone for good, he revealed it was a practical choice to get rid of it as "people started randomly grabbing it on the streets".
