'We're not engaged,' Sarah Greene denies Poldark beau Aidan Turner popped the question
Actress Sarah Greene has denied rumours that she's engaged to her Poldark star boyfriend Aidan Turner.
There were reports at the weekend that the gorgeous couple were set to marry.
While everyone was hoping the Vikings star would show off a sparkler, it wasn't to be as she says they're not set to get hitched just yet.
The notoriously private couple - who have been together for three years - were attending the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival's Expressing Emotion: Actors in Conversation event yesterday.
Sarah didn't have much to say to waiting reporters, but she was blunt in pouring cold water on those wedding rumours.
"We're not engaged," she told the Herald.
The reports at the weekend suggested that Aidan - who is currently grabbing headlines for his heart-throb turn in the hit BBC historical drama Poldark - had popped the question over Christmas.
"They are a really close and happy couple, and marriage is the logical next step for them," a source told a Sunday newspaper.
"Neither of them really go for the glitzy side of showbusiness, they're happier spending quiet evenings in playing Scrabble."
Aidan has starred in The Hobbit movies but his shirtless scenes on the BBC show have put him firmly on the map in recent weeks.
The 31-year-old plays Ross Poldark, who returns from the American Revolutionary War to find that his former fiancee has agreed to marry his cousin Francis in his absence.
The Clondalkin native made sure to hit the gym before filming started so that he was in tip top shape for the role.
"I was going to the gym a lot the first couple of months as I had a couple of topless scenes," he said.
"They didn't actually wear underwear at the time so it made it quite difficult to shoot some of the stuff.
"They would just wear the shirt and then tuck it in and around," he added.
Meanwhile, Sarah (29), who was nominated for a Tony award for her performance in A Cripple of Inishmaan, is set to become an international star thanks to movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
He set up meetings for her to audition for the John Wells movie Adam Jones after he saw her on Broadway. The movie also stars Bradley Cooper, Jamie Dornan, and Sienna Miller.
Speaking at yesterday's event, the Cork native revealed that she aspires to be like top Hollywood actresses Julianne Moore and Jessica Chastain.
