Well-known faces gather for glitzy VIP opening night of 'The Bodyguard'
Well-known faces from the worlds of television, fashion and sport gathered at the glitzy VIP opening night of 'The Bodyguard' musical this evening in Dublin.
X Factor winner and three-time Brit nominee Alexandra Burke took to the stage after months of anticipation for her Irish stage debut.
Burke takes on the lead role of 'Rachel Marron', a role Whitney Houston perfected on the big screen.
Based on Lawrence Kasdan's 1992 Oscar-nominated film, 'The Bodyguard' show was nominated for four Laurence Olivier Awards including Best New Musical and Best Set Design. It also won Best New Musical at the Whats On Stage Awards.
The plot follows former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, who is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge of the situation, what they don’t expect is to fall in love.
The romantic thriller features classics including Queen of the Night, So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love, I’m Your Baby Tonight, Run to You, I Have Nothing, I Wanna Dance with Somebody and, last but not least, I Will Always Love You.
The musical will continue at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre until Saturday, August 1.
