Victoria: Kids didn't know my job
Victoria Beckham has admitted that her children didn't think she had a "proper job" as she prepares to open her first clothing store in London.
The former Spice Girl has carved out a hugely successful second career for herself as a fashion designer.
But she told the Evening Standard that it wasn't until her children saw her catwalk shows that they realised what she actually did.
The three-storey shop in trendy Dover Street, Mayfair, is the first in a series of stores Victoria plans to open after launching her designer range online last year.
Speaking ahead of the launch, the mother-of-four said: 'It wasn't until they came to the show a few seasons ago that I think they realised that mummy actually had a proper job.
"They see David on the football pitch whereas I go off to work and they don't really see what I do."
The 40-year-old has been making last minute adjustments as she prepares to open the upmarket store.
"A lot of attention has gone into making things look really quite minimal because that's my taste," she said. "I'm not trying to be like anyone else.
"I want people to come in here and feel like it's me. I've only ever tried to be me."
The store will sell five Victoria Beckham collections, including a ready-to-wear range, accessories, sunglasses and denim.
