Tom Hardy might be one of Hollywood's hottest actors, but prefers a more reserved life with his wife when the cameras stop rolling.

The 39-year-old star made a rare red carpet appearance with his wife Charlotte Riley at the world premiere of Dunkirk on Thursday night, putting on a brave face as he recently announced the death of his rescue dog and "best friend" Woody died last month.

Hardy and Riley (32) are a rare entity in showbiz: where details of their life are rarely spoken about, except for a few choice words here and there.It's believed they secretly wed in 2014, but they've never confirmed it and they don't seem in a rush to let us know either.

The couple met in 2009 on the set of Wuthering Heights and became engaged just one year later and after nearly a decade together, they're still going strong. The Max Max star opted for a three piece suit by Gucci for the red carpet, while Charlotte opted for a daring black and navy jumpsuit with a sheer, plunging neckline by Galvan.

As glamorous guests go, last night's premiere of Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk is up there with the best of them.

Prince Harry was guest of honour and before attending the premiere, he spoke to old soldiers, now in their late 90s, about their experiences at Kensington Palace.

Harry Styles' acting debut was once again the main topic of conversation - despite the fact that Nolan defended him just days ago, comparing him to the late Heath Ledger, the singer suggested that he may not be taking on any more screen work.

Irish actors Cillian Murphy and Barry Keoghan also feature in the much-anticipated film.
