'This young blonde woman approached me and said, 'I love your husband. Do you?'' - Ivana Trump on moment she knew marriage to Donald was over
Ivana's memoir 'Raising Trump' spills on the marriage and divorce
Ivana Trump has spilled the beans on her courtship, marriage, and divorce from Donald Trump.
In her new memoir, Raising Trump, she details her early childhood in Europe, her modelling career, and the early days of her relationship with the current US President, who was then a successful businessman living in New York.
When she fist met him he got Ivanka and her friends a table at a top restaurant, paid for the meal, and then brought her back to her hotel in a Cadillac.
She writes that she thought he was "smart and funny - an all-America good guy."
Ivana was married to Donald from 1977 to 1992 in the book she details the moment she knew her marriage was over.
"This young blonde woman approached me out of the blue and said 'I'm Marla and I love your husband. Do you?"' she writes. "I said 'Get lost. I love my husband.' It was unladylike but I was in shock."
Trump's affair with Marla Maples was tabloid fodder for months in 1990 and after his divorce from Ivana he married Maples in 1993.
They have three children together, Ivanka, Donald Jr, and Eric and she writes about how the relationship breakdown affected the family.
"I can only shake my head at how it insane it was," she writes. "I couldn't turn on the television without hearing my name."
However, she says they are back on good terms these days and muses that perhaps her daughter Ivanka could run for President "in fifteen years".
