They kept that quiet! Michael Phelps secretly wed Nicole Johnson months ago
Olympic legend Michael Phelps secretly wed his long-term love months ago.
The US swimmer (31), with a record-breaking 23 gold medals, and Nicole Johnson exchanged vows on June 13 in Arizona, months before the Rio Olympics where he said he still hadn't set a wedding date.
Their ceremony was officiated by Phelps' agent Peter Carlisle and their six-month-old son Boomber played a pivotal role, according to TMZ.
In an August interview, Phelps said he was looking forward to getting married in a "small destination wedding" despite the fact he was already married for two months.
"I really can’t wait to get married. It will be a small destination wedding later this year. It’s the next big milestone I’m looking forward to," he said at the time, throwing off fans of his secret nuptials.
Phelps has been dating the former Miss California, who works in marketing for the Michael Phelps Foundation, since 2007 but split in 2011 before reuniting in 2014.
"I said to a couple of my friends if I ever had the chance to get her back, that would be it. She was the one I loved the most," Phelps revealed last year.
"Her and I have been on and off for eight years. It's been a long time. We've been through a lot. But I love her to death. We've been able to grow as a couple through everything we've been through, the positive changes I've made in my life."
