There's an unexpected reason why Khloe Kardashian named her daughter True Thompson
If there's one thing Kardashians know how to do, it's stick to family traditions.
New mother Khloe (33) is celebrating the arrival of her first child - a baby girl she named True Thompson - whom she welcomed into the world last Thursday. Fans have criticised her decision to give her baby her boyfriend's Tristan Thompson's surname as he was recorded reportedly kissing another woman in a club days before her due date.
Although Thompson has proven divisive, it turns out her daughter's unusual first name has a lengthy history in Kris Jenner's family.
Before she was a Jenner and even before she was a Kardashian, Kris was a Houghton and the moniker was passed down to two generations before her - it was her grandfather's first name and her father's middle name.
"I’m so excited to welcome my precious little granddaughter True!!! FUN FACT... my Grandfather’s name on my Dad’s side was True Otis Houghton....my Dad’s name was Robert True Houghton...so i am so excited Khloe named her daughter True!!! #lovebug #familytradition #family," she wrote on Instagram.
On Monday night, Khloe broke her self imposed social media silence to announce her daughter's name, alongside her Cleveland home filled with pink balloons and flowers.
"Our little girl, True Thompson, has completely stolen our hearts and we are overwhelmed with LOVE. Such a blessing to welcome this angel into the family! Mommy and Daddy loooooove you True," she wrote.
Meanwhile, sources say that the new mother is still "bitter" about the cheating allegations, all of which allegedly took place while she was pregnant, and is still figuring out what she wants her next step to be.
"She left the hospital and is staying at Tristan’s house with the baby. She still can’t believe what happened earlier this week," a source told People.
"She is very bitter about it. She doesn’t want to be in a relationship with him. She will make sure her daughter still has a good relationship with him, though. Tristan is bonding with the baby."
