‘The secret is to feel lucky you found her’ - Matt Damon on 10 years of wedded bliss
Matt Damon thinks marriage is a crazy idea.
The Martian actor tied the knot with wife Luciana in December 2005 and together they have three daughters. Ahead of their ten year wedding anniversary, the 44-year-old has admitted that being monogamous can be a strange concept at times.
“I think marriage is insane," he told ET Online. "It's a crazy idea but I love being married to my wife. So I wouldn't tell anybody else about their relationship. But I'm lucky I found my wife. And I guess maybe, if there's any secret … it's to feel lucky."
Matt met Luciana when he was filming Stuck on You in Miami while she worked as a bartender. The couple have a solid relationship despite the actor’s fame but he thinks to some extent a successful union comes down to fate.
“So much of it is out of your hands," he added. "I mean, I just had that conversation with my father this weekend. He says the same thing to me. Says it's God's grace, is what he said. Because you just don't get lucky."
While Matt’s happily betrothed, the star has had to support his best friend Ben Affleck in recent months since he announced the end of his own ten-year marriage to Jennifer Garner. The Gone Girl actor recently celebrated his 43rd birthday with his estranged wife and their three children. While it was reported that Ben and Jennifer acted like “awkward strangers” during his birthday celebrations, Matt insists his pal is handling things well.
“I was in Boston with my family actually. It was kind of a meaningless, it was 43 you know? It wasn't that big," he joked. "I think he was actually in Atlanta with his family. So we missed each other but...he’s good. He’s good."
