The Ex Factor: Ryan Tubridy and Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain avoid each other at Young Scientist
The two announced they were parting ways last month after five years together. Yesterday, Tubridy described work as both a “friend” and a “beautiful distraction.”
“I’m loving going to work, work is my friend,” he told the Irish independent. “I’ve had quite a good roll of the dice for the past few months, I’m really enjoying work immensely and I’m putting more time into it behind the scenes.”
Tubridy is currently writing a children’s book and described the project as “a gorgeous side project”.
“It won’t appear for about a year,” he said. “But it’s a gorgeous side project for me. It’s a beautiful distraction.”
Both Tubridy and Ni Shuilleabhain attended the BT Young Scientist exhibition this week; Tubridy presented his radio show while Ni Shuilleabhain acted as a judge.
The couple had been dating for four years and bought a home in Dalkey together, but announced their split last month.
A statement issued by Noel Kelly, whose company NK Management acts as representation for the couple, confirmed the split and said they would remain friends.
"Aoibhinn and Ryan are no longer together," the statement read.
"They will remain friends and ask for privacy at this time. There will be no further comment on this personal matter."
Tonight, The Late Late Show will unveil its new set and graphics. Designer Marcella Power has been working on the design for several months and Tubridy has compared it to a “New York loft”.
“It’s the kind of place you feel you should be in with a tumbler of whiskey,” Tubridy said. “I think guests from the UK and US will come in now and say, “Wow, this is really high end”.
