As you all know I've never been one for tipping the fetlock. But my story this morning is of the kind that will cause stirrings among the stallions - no, correct that - in the stables.
Racing magnate John Magnier's younger daughter Samantha Josephine is to marry her beau Charles Pearson. Samantha Josephine and Charles got engaged six weeks ago amid much tally-ho far and wide. Well, her dear old dad is one of the most respected race-horse owners internationally, with his multi-million Coolmore Stud.
Stunning Samantha, the blonde beauty (who attended the smart Woldingham school in Surrey) and charming Chazza from Upton-upon- Severn, Worcestershire, are quite the cool couple.
And if Samantha's sister Kate's 2002 wedding in Tipp to horse-trainer David Wachman is any indication, then she and her fiance should be in for one cool wedding too. In 2002, the 1,000 guests included everyone from Albert Reynolds, Charlie McCreevy, Alex Ferguson to Dermot Desmond, JP McManus to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jodie Kidd and the two Michaels - Flatley and O'Leary, the Lord of the Dance and the Lord of the Skies respectively. The whole super-stylish shindig, at Magnier's Coolmore HQ, was estimated to have cost in the region of €3m, with Rod Stewart and Ronan Keating performing. So no pressure for John eh?
I suppose he could simply hold it in Sandy Lane, the exclusive establishment he co-owns in Barbados, and be done with it. I've just checked my diary - and I'm available as the wedding planner.
