The Corrs in mourning as dad Gerry passes away aged 82

Gerry Corr, the father of the four members of the famous music band from Dundalk, has passed away. He was 82.
A notice from the family online said he had passed away peacefully in the care of the staff at the Mater Hospital Dublin on Thursday night.
Locals have paid tribute to Mr Corr who was recalled as “a great stalwart to the town” of Dundalk.
“He was very active locally and was involved in a number of local projects. He was particular to the fore in effort to retain services at Louth County Hospital,” the chair of the Dundalk municipal district Declan Breathnach said.
“And of course his family’s musical talents helped put Dundalk on the map internationally,2 he added.
Gerry Corr was the father of Andrea, Sharon, Caroline and Jim Corr who made up the internationally-acclaimed and multi-award winning ‘Corrs’ band.
Sharon Corr’s management company said Mr Corr’s passing was a matter for the Corr family and they would not be commenting at this point.
A notice regarding Mr Corr's death states that he died "peacefully" in hospital.
"Beloved husband of the late Jean (nee Bell) and cherished father of Jim, Sharon, Caroline and Andrea. Gerry will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his children, brother Willie, sisters Maureen, Rosaleen and Kathleen and a large circle of relatives and friends," the notice states.
The family offered their "heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation for all the care shown to their dad, particularly, Dr Hugh McCann, his medical team and the wonderful nurses and staff of The Mater Hospital Dublin".
Mr Corr will be in repose at his home on Sunday afternoon from 3 o'clock.
His funeral mass will take place on Monday morning at 12pm at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Dundalk before his burial in St Patrick's Cemetery.
