Thandie Newton posts 'dealing with the tash' selfie, wins the internet
Actress Thandie Newton is breaking taboos when it comes to female hair removal.
The BAFTA winner posted a selfie this week as she used some bleach to remove her upper lip hair and is hoping for a revolution, or, at least some revelations.
The Crash star (42) shared the picture alongside the caption: "Dealing with the tash in readiness for the Royal Premiere tonight! Go Jolen! XT”.
Brunettes around the world rejoiced as she shared some insight into what it takes to be life ready, not just red carpet ready.
Her website Thandiekay.com, where she and her best friend and makeup artist Kay Montano empower women by breaking down traditional beauty standards through humour, featured an as expected, hilarious post about her hairless aftermath.
"Neither of us are at Tom Selleck tom-selleck-magnum-pimouth-hedge levels but we do, like most women have a little non-blonde down (okay- alright- hair) above the upper lip," Kay wrote as "inspired" be her BFF Thandie.
"More surprising is that it’s clearly still a little taboo, otherwise it would not have gone as viral so quickly, with women high-fiving Thandie for her candour with the facial fuzz.
"I’ve tried electrolysis and it was a right pain in the lip-the ratio of agony- to being ‘not that bothered’ meant actually, I’d rather not bother. Waxing makes me spotty (some kind of follicle meets unhappy pore situation) and the resulting brown marks on my olive skin more of a thing than the hair!
"So there it is: ‘My name is Kay, I have a bit of a tache and I use hair removal cream’."
