Swedish royal family release adorable new photos of Princess Sofia and Prince Carl with newborn son Prince Alexander
The Swedish Royal Palace have released the first family photoshoot of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia with their four-week-old son, Prince Alexander.
The first-time parents can be seen beaming in a series of portraits alongside their son and even their dog, Siri.
The five photographs show the couple, who wed in June 2015, posing in the royal grounds and in their family home at Drottningholm Palace.
The new family can be seen sitting on a bench in the garden, on a pink sofa in their home and standing in front of a fireplace.
Two black and white shots show candid moments between each parent and their first child.
The newborn sleeps on Prince Carl Philip’s shoulder, while Princess Sofia gazes lovingly as he rests in her arms.
The young prince appears to be asleep for the duration of the photoshoot, while the proud parents cradle him adoringly.
Prince Carl Philip, a part-time race car driver, looked sharp in a smart grey suit for each photo, while Princess Sofia, a former model, changed from a cream high-necked blouse and trousers to a simple cream dress.
"We would in this way like to convey our sincere gratitude for all the congratulations we received in connection with our son, Prince Alexander's, birth. We genuinely appreciate your kindness and considerations,” the royal couple said in a social media post.
Prince Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil was born on April 19 at Danderyd Hospital in Stockholm.
The photos were released in time for Prince Carl Philip’s 37th birthday on Friday.
