Stella Maxwell gets her wings for Victoria's Secret fashion show - which cut some of the world's biggest models
Preparations are already underway for the biggest fashion show in the world in a week filled with tears and triumphs.
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is back - this time, in Shanghai in November - and after coming under fire for embracing the 'social media supermodels' as its core attraction, the brand has embraced a more cutthroat approach this year.
Sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid have both been confirmed for the show, but there's still no word from Kendall Jenner's camp about a runway appearance. And seasoned models like Izabel Goulart and Shanina Shaik have all been cut from this year's show in favour of more than a dozen new recruits.
Hailey Baldwin, a model best known for dating Justin Bieber and some work for Tommy Hilfiger, was invited to the casting but also didn't make the cut. This year's new crop of faces includes Roosmarijn de Kok and Amilna Estevao, who have relatively modest followings on Instagram (less than 100,000 in comparison to Gigi's 35.5 million).
But one Angel whose wings are safe are those of Stella Maxwell, the model we claim as Irish because of her parents, who was pictured looking runway ready after her fitting outside Victoria's Secret's New York offices on Monday.
The 27-year-old, was unveiled as an official 'Angel' in 2015, and has become one of the brand's most bankable names since, namely because of her stunning good looks and Hollywood romances which keep her in the headlines.
Maxwell was pictured looking festival ready in a white crop top paired with black hotpants, a studded leather jacket and boots, nonchalantly carrying her obligatory wings.
Last year's controversial selection Bella Hadid has confirmed she'll walk again this year, writing on Instagram on Saturday: "I feel so crazy humbled to get the opportunity to be a part of this show again. Walking into the offices this year i felt so happy, healthy, and honored.. I can’t wait for another incredible experience!!! Congrats to all of the beautiful ladies I will be walking beside. I can’t wait!"
Also spotted getting ready for this year's show was Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Sara Sampaio, Martha Hunt, Lais Ribeiro and Elsa Hosk.
