Shane Lowry's fiancée Wendy Honner 'very proud' after his Bridgestone victory
Is a wedding finally on the cards for Shane Lowry?
After his sensational €1.45m Bridgestone victory over the weekend, he's the most talked about Irish man of the moment.
But one woman who always keeps him at the forefront of her mind is Wendy Honner, his fiancée, who has been dating the golfer for three years.
She tweeted how excited she was at her other half's incredible win, saying: Very proud of this guy !!'@ShaneLowryGolf."
Lowry popped the question last December to the "love of his life", describing it as the "icing on the cake" of a successful year.
The Offaly native visited romantic Dubai with his long-term love in December and got down on bended knee on the beach to ask for her hand in marriage.
But the pair are in no rush to wed, with the 28-year-old hoping to exchange vows in 2016.
“I am absolutely delighted. Wendy is a great girl and we are both looking to our future together,” he said at the time.
“It is the icing on the cake at the end of a great year. We can’t wait to get home and celebrate with our friends and family over the Christmas.
“Wendy and I would just like to thank everyone for their good wishes on our engagement. A great end to a fantastic year.”
The loved-up couple met randomly on a night out with friends and instantly hit it off.
"I met he on a random night out," he explained of their introduction.
"Nobody introduced us or anything and no, it wasn't in Coppers.
"We're planning to get married next year. No date is set as yet.
"We've no plans yet, Wendy keeps trying to make plans but I'm trying to keep it off until after Christmas."
