Ryan Reynolds gushes over wife Blake Lively as they lead loved-up couples at Met Gala
Ryan Reynolds paid a surprise tribute to his wife Blake Lively, praising her empathy as her best quality.
The loved-up couple, who have been married for five years, led a host A-listers at Monday night's Met Gala and while it was no surprise they were among the best dressed there, the Canadian actor's appearance of New York was not expected.
Captioning a sweet photo of them cuddling at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Deadpool star is quoted as saying: "She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy.
"She’ll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old. And she’s made me a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember. She made me remember the good times."

It's been a relatively public month for the notoriously private pair who celebrated Reynolds' nod on Time's 100 Most Influential People list just last week and they made their annual appearance at the Met Gala, which is hosted by their good friend US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
They weren't the only married couple quick to let the world know they're not succumbing to the Hollywood curse - supermodel Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady packed on the PDA for the photographers.
They've attended the gala eight times and acted as co-chairs alongside Wintour and Katy Perry this year. Gisele, wearing a slinky Stella McCartney gown, said the event is "always a fun night" with her other half.
Oscar-winner Matt Damon and wife of 12 years Luciana Barroso attended for the first timing, both wearing Versace.
New couple The Weeknd and Selena Gomez went public with their four-month romance and the actress was spotted whispering "I love you" to her other half on the red carpet. Selena - who has had her hands full defending the first season of the polarising 13 Reasons Why, which she produced - stunned in a pale pink embellished gown by Coach
Jennifer Lopez's relationship with Alex Rodriguez is going from strength to strength as they also made their red carpet debut, with the mother-of-two choosing a retro style powder blue Valentino gown.
"He's so supportive," she gushed last week "He's such a supportive person and he's so lovely."
Irish actress Ruth Negga and boyfriend of six years also attended together but avoided the red carpet. So here is a picture of the back of Cooper's head as they leave The Mark hotel on Monday night.
The theme of the 2017 event was aligned with the museum's Costume Institute exhibition Rei Kawakubo / Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between.
