Roz Purcell reveals the best way to handle online trolls
Rozanna Purcell has revealed how she "doesn't get easily offended" on social media, thanks to her years working in the modelling industry.
The top model and blogger (25) has amassed an army of followers online as a result of her best-selling book and regular updates on her lifestyle blog.
She said she has found the best way to deal with trolls is to confront them.
"I'm so used to it (negativity). I've been in this industry for seven years. I always respond because usually when you respond, you challenge them.
"From your point of view, you're like, 'I'm sorry that you feel that way but this is why I did it or whatever' and then normally they're like 'oh, I'm sorry.'
"It's not even about shaming them, but I like to defend myself and I'm very lucky in the modelling industry that I don't get easily offended, I really don't.
"I'd be in the wrong game. I take everything with a pinch of salt. I've got a good tough skin."
This week, she took centre stage to advise 500 people at 3XE Digital's social media marketing conference at Croke Park.
Dishing out her top tips on how to get ahead online, she said the most important thing for her was to develop her own community.
She also said speaking in front of so many people didn't daunt her in the slightest from her "years of talking."
"I don't get nervous that much any more. I'm one of those people, I never pre-prepare anything. I just go and speak. I always go off the cuff," she said.
"When it comes to modelling, you're always promoting yourself in some form or another so I guess that with a brand, it's not that different."
