Actress Robin Wright has apparently called off her engagement.
The 48-year-old actress began dating actor Ben Foster in February 2012 and in January of this year the couple announced their plans to wed.
However, their busy lifestyles reportedly got in the way of things, with Robin eventually ending the relationship.
"She got swept up in the engagement last Christmas, but then their schedules got crazy and she realised it wasn't the right decision," an insider told Us Weekly.
It was over the summer when Robin is said to have had enough of trying to juggle her career and personal life. She was busy working on the third series of Netflix show House of Cards in Baltimore, then jetting to Los Angeles to spend time with her kids Dylan (23) and Hopper Jack (21) who she has with ex-husband Sean Penn.
During this time 34-year-old Ben was in London working on theatre production A Streetcar Named Desire opposite Gillian Anderson and Vanessa Kirby, with the show coming to an end in September.
To add to their problems, the 14-year age gap was also reportedly an issue.
"The gap just ended up being too much," a source explained. "Ben was kind of immature. She couldn't deal with him anymore."
The pair got to know each other on the set of their 2011 film Rampart.
It would have been the third time Robin walked down the aisle, following her marriages to Sean and also Dane Witherspoon.
Earlier this year she appeared excited at the prospect of spending the rest of her life with Ben, sharing details about their time together with The Telegraph.
“I’d never, ever been asked out on a date before. Never. I was frickin’ married my whole life, and even before that I hadn’t been asked out," she recalled, referring to when Ben took her to a poetry recital shortly after they first met.
“Ben and I have a connection between us that just feels right. I don’t know any other word for it.”
