Robin Thicke and Paula Patton called it quits after nearly 10 years of marriage.

Singer Robin Thicke told an audience of fans that he is determined to win his wife back.

The controversial performer returned to the stage last night for his first concert since splitting from his childhood sweetheart wife Paula Patton.

He paid an emotional tribute to his ex, telling the crowd his wife was a good woman and explaining that he was trying to get her back.

It was claimed the 36-year-old tried to save their marriage by cancelling shows this week to fly to Paula in Canada, so they could talk.

He took to the stage in Fairfax, Virginia yesterday and dedicated the song ‘Lost Without U’ to her after admitting he had written the song for his estranged wife.

The star, with a reputation for his flirtatious nature, wore his wedding ring throughout the entire concert.

He told TMZ photographers earlier in the day that he is working hard to get his wife back.

The Blurred Lines singer married Paula, who he met when he was just 14, in 2005 and they have a son, Julian, together.

The singer has been criticised for frolicking on stage with 21-year-old Miley Cyrus and seemingly touching a blonde lady's derrière in a picture, but the 36-year-old is allegedly keen to patch things up with the actress.

The couple announced their spilt on Monday and Robin immediately cancelled three scheduled shows.

On the same day, Paula’s West Hollywood home was bombarded with copious amounts of extravagant floral arrangements.

The separated couple told People magazine in a joint statement, ‘‘We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.’’

According to TMZ, Paula, 38, initiated the split on Friday and Robin jumped straight on a plane to see Paula in Canada, despite being scheduled to perform.

The couple's son turns four this April and apparently Robin is also concerned about the child's wellbeing.

Sources claim he's unhappy with the idea of Julian being raised between two homes.

Despite gushing about one another in the past, insiders have said Robin and Paula were on the rocks a long time before breaking up.

"Their marriage was unravelling for a long time," an insider told Us Weekly.

"It is not a shock to Robin or Paula, and it is something they have discussed for a long time,” another source divulged.
