Prince Harry's ex Chelsy Davy is all smiles as he moves ahead with wedding plans to Meghan Markle
It was always going to be a week when all eyes would be back on Prince Harry's ex-girlfriends.
Chelsy Davy, who dated the prince for six years, is considered something of a royal confidante and despite their relationship ending in 2010, maintains a spot at the upper echelons of British society. The Zimbabwean-British barrister (32) was pictured on Friday night looking her usually cheery self as she joined an exclusive crowd to raise funds at Claridge's Hotel at the BOVET 1822 Brilliant is Beautiful Gala.
She was dressed in a black beaded gown with cut-out sheer netting, accessorising with a foldover Falabella clutch by Stella McCartney as she mingled with Harry's aunt and royal ex Sarah Ferguson. Chelsy, much like his other former long-term girlfriend Cressida Bonas, run in the same social circles as Fergie's daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and can often be spotted at exclusive fashion or fundraising events in London.
It was announced earlier this week that Harry is engaged to marry Meghan Markle after a whirlwind 16-month romance and the couple will exchange vows at Windsor Castle next spring, although a date has yet to be confirmed. Davy is no stranger to the attention that comes with her former royal romance, but is said to have ended things because she couldn't cope with the day-to-day scrutiny on her personal life.
"I think we will always be good friends," she told the Sunday Times last year. She said she "found it tough" being surrounded by the media attention, adding "It’s not something you get used to." In 2015, it was reported that Harry "still holds a candle for her".
Cressida Bonas, who dated him from 2012 to 2014, has had an equally busy week starring in James Arthur's new music video and has been sharing updates on her Instagram page. She also reportedly didn't cope well with life in the "royal fishbowl".
In 2016, he met American actress Meghan Markle and they managed to keep their relationship under wraps for six months, which they say was priceless in getting to know each other away from the glare of the public.
On Friday, they carried out their first official joint royal duties in Nottingham, where they inspired a huge crowd; holding hands on arrival and engaging in affectionate PDAs. Meghan went without gloves to her ring was on display and carried a handbag, rather than a clutch, which Kate Middleton prefers.
